Firefox freezes PC on pages like Twitter, Flickr, Delicious

I'm having a weird problem. I have firefox 3 installed on an intel quad-core Q6600 PC with Vista Home premium, 32-bit version, and SP1...

Everytime i load up flickr, twitter, or delicious -- it freezes the entire comp. I can't open task manager or anything else to get out of this freeze. I have to manually shut it down with the power button.

Now this freeze only happens on those 3 specific sites, and maybe a couple of others... but point is, it's not random. It's usually on the login page, or once I'm in the process off logging in.

Facebook, myspace, and many others work fine, and I have no problem logging in.

Also, Internet Explorer loads those problem pages fine without any issue. Using IE would solve my problem, but I prefer firefox so I would like to resolve this somehow...

Anyone got any ideas? Do those specific sites use something in their design that's in common, which might be causing this freeze in firefox?

I've tried disabling ZoneAlarm, Spybot, etc, to see if something was interfering. I've also run Firefox in Safe Mode, but no luck so far. I've also run tests for virus' and spyware, but haven't found anything yet. Also tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling... no dice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ps: this issue happened on firefox 2 as well.

I get a similiar prob if I don't install the correct video driver.( I play around with several O/Ss and sometimes with Linux I can't be bothered loading the Nvidia driver). Have you updated your video driver?

yeah i updated the driver when i got my pc a couple of months ago.

Have had some issues updating, but though I had it all figured out. EVerything else works fine now. This may be related to that... but why would those pages work fine in IE then?

Can anyone offer some help?

Thanks
