Firefox stops
Hi guys, I've been trying to figure this out but I'm pretty stuck.
A little bit of background before I divulge into my problem. I am dual-booting windows 2000 and XP, 2000 just went kapoot on me for some odd reason so I'm using XP right now until I get enough motivation to install 2000 again. I have been primarily using 2000 for everything except games not supported by 2000. So I've been using XP primarily for about a week. While using Firefox at sometimes it will stop, my computer will not be able to do anything, no task manager, no response whatsoever and I have to restart. No error, nothing. Right now I'm actually using it and it hasn't done it yet. I've noticed that it usually does it on sites that have a lot of media, but then sometimes it doesn't do it again when I'm on that site again. For instance like Myspace, one time I was signing in and it just stopped. Youtube, msn, news articles. It happens at different times. I had this problem before upgrading to 3.0 and it's still going on. I've updated quicktime, adobe flash player, java. Anything I could think of. I've made sure it was allowed access by my firewall and anti-virus. I'm at my wits end. I've used IE a bit and it hasn't done it. So I'm guessing that it's just firefox. But I haven't used IE extensively so I'm not sure. I've checked with firefox support and stuff and no luck with the different things they suggested. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. So I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions or ideas would be more then welcome. |

Re: Firefox stops
I play around with many Operating systems and have noticed that if I don't have the correct video driver loaded(some versions of Linux need Video drivers loaded manually) that Firefox freezes as per your message. Once the correct driver is loaded it no longer freezes.
