Firefox/Norton
Hello,
I am wondering what the difference is between Firefox and Norton Antivirus. I have installed Norton onto my computer. I need to open a file, but when I have the computer search for a program to open it, the computer wants to run an update to the Firefox. If I do that will it interfer with what Norton is doing? |

Re: Firefox/Norton
Firefox is a web browser. It allows you to view websites such as this one and many others. But I am sure that you know that already. Norton AV is just an AV program. I would recommend that you do a spyware and adware scan on your computer to make sure that you don't have anything like that on your computer. If you don't find anything then you can try and do the update, but i would create a restore point before you do that.
What is the file type that you are searching for a program to open with? Cheers!

I'm not sure how relevant this is if the problem is to do with file associations, but it's useful to know anyway. Firefox has an option to automatically download and install any updates to itself and its add-ons. If you haven't used Firefox for a while, you get this notification before the browser will open. Let it update, then close down Firefox and restart it again. The message should have disappeared now.
