Firefox freezing

I am also a long time user of Firefox and it has just started freezing on launch to Google as well as Yahoo. I reinstalled (Not a complete clean) which didn't work BUT turning the modem off then on did clear it for a time then it froze again - this time on a pop up.

Any reason why the restart of the modem would work? Aa I am not a technical computer user I feel I just may have to continue resorting to Explorer whcih keeps working even when FF doesn't.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Firefox freezing

Could be a problem with an Add-on.
Try running in Firefox safe mode to temporarily disable all Add-ons.
Start>Programs>Mozilla Firefox>Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode).
If the problem disappears, re-enable the Add-ons one at a time until you find the culprit.

Re: Firefox freezing

Amazingly Firefox worked this morning when I turned it on, but if it freezes again I will give it a try in safe mode - if it is not fixed I will then need some info on what and where "Add ons" are.

Many thanks

Re: Firefox freezing

For some reason after 7 days my Firefox is still not freezing - I am wondering if it was a McAfee issue which has been resolved with an update??? an earlier blog mentioned it could be a security issue

I think Firefox Safe Mode can be found in START/All Programs/Firefox
Good luck
