Why is the process for Firefox so high?

I have only one tab and nothing seems 'different'. Originally, I had the cache at about 1024mbs. i changed it back to 50, but the thing is still using a lot of power.

here's the link:

originally, it was around 30,000... so i don't know why it got so high.
any suggestions?

its just the way it is -Firefox 2 is a resource hog. However the problem has been fixed in Firefox 3

The problem can be even worse if are running Add-Ons with Firefox.

As was stated above, Firefox 3 is supposed to help this.

According to sources, Firefox 3 will use less memory than Internet Explorer. Clickster is absolutely right about the add-ons. If you run a bunch of them, they can slow things down. Disable the ones you don't use often, especially if you are running firebug.

Re: Why is the process for Firefox so high?

108xxxk is high for a browser? I reach 300,xxxk very regular in my usage and that's high. Your uptake is roughly what is expected to be if you've left the system on for a while, cached much extra's, browsed much or have addons.
Try Fx 3 Beta 5, at your own risk as it's a BETA but it is so far far better than Fx 2.
