Firefox problems and XPcom
Hello again TSF,
I am writing because I am having 2 problems with Firefox, First, sometimes randomly when I open a website on Firefox it sticks on "transferring data" and doesn't do anything. Also when I close Firefox, on the windows task manager it still shows as running (dunno if that is normal). This happens the most when I am playing a fullscreen game and I tab out or show desktop~; but still sometimes it happens out of nothing. The other problem I have is a "XPcom event receiver" dialog I get when I shut down the computer; Not sure if its associated with the Firefox problem. Here's a screenie of the error I get; ![]() My internet connection is 1024kps Windows Xp pro SP2 amd x2 3800+ processor 3gb corsair ddr2 ram Dunno what else is relevant information I should give in order to find the problem, Thanks! |

Re: Firefox problems and XPcom
Have you upgraded to the latest version of Firefox? Are all your toolbars, add-ons, extensions, etc all up to date and compatible with your version of Firefox?
Disable all your add-ons and toolbars, then re-enable them one at a time until the error appears again, restarting Firefox after each change. Google Toolbar, Talkback and DOM Inspector are known to cause this problem. If you have anti-phishing enabled, go to Tools > Options > Security and uncheck "Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected forgery", then restart Firefox and see if this fixes it.

Re: Firefox problems and XPcom
I've subscribed to this thread, so if it happens again post back here and we'll try something else.
If you can work out which add-on was causing the error, please post back with more details for others who might have the same problem.

Re: Firefox problems and XPcom
Ok, the problem is gone now!
Well, the addons I had were just some themes, I removed the ones i Never used, not sure if they had problems (graphitefox, aquamarine and 2 more i don't remember sorry). I only have 2 addons now and I tested them and none produced the problem, which are macfoxII and PDF download. Maybe what did it was the unchecking the "Tell me if the site I'm visiting is a suspected forgery" Well, as always, I am super happy i found this site when i did, can never go wrong with TSF. Thanks Koala and thanks TSF |

Re: Firefox problems and XPcom
Thanks for the update
I'll mark this thread as solved, but you can still post in here if the problem returns.

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox problems and XPcom
Hey there again ^^
Sadly, the problem came back. Yesterday when i was shutting down i got the XPcom error message again, and also sometimes browser stays on transferring data without doing anything. What I'm gonna do now is disable the 2 addons I had for Firefox and wait a couple of days to see if it comes back, if it does I'll just rule out the addons from being the cause. I'll write again if something comes up sooner, or If you find somethign would be nice ;P thanks ^^ |
