Firefox not responding, yet again....
Scenario is that I had NoScript installed and tried to uninstall it. Now when I try FF it starts and just hangs, then goes to "Not Responding".
System: Lenovo T61p 2 Gig Windows XP Pro - SP2 fully up to date Step 1: What I've tried so far: uninstalled Firefox malware scans virus scans regristry clean defrag reboot reinstall Firefox 2.0.0.12 reboot same problem Repeat Step1 install Firefox Beta 3, Version 4 reboot same problem Any ideas of what I can try next? I searched the archives and have tried what I found - nothing's fixing it and IE SUX - ![]()

Re: Firefox not responding, yet again....
You could try removing any pref's that NoScript may have left behind.
Type 'about:config' in your addy bar and then 'noscript' in the filter bar that will appear at the top of the new page. The filter effect should leave you with any pref's belonging to the noscript extension. On each line, right click and select 'reset'. After you've done that restart Firefox and cross fingers! You should empty your cache too. Last edited by keithy397 : 03-24-2008 at 02:13 AM. |

Re: Firefox not responding, yet again....
Firefox defaults to 50 mb of storage space (cache). The cache basically retains images and web pages visited for quicker loading next time and for working offline with them. This can, over a period of time accumulate a lot of stuff which can impede Firefox speed and performance.
You can empty the cache manually by:- Tools > Options > Advanced (tab) > Network (tab) > Offline Storage > Clear Now You can clear the cache automatically every time you close Firefox:- Tools > Options > Privacy (tab) > Private Data > Here you can select (tick box) to clear your private data every time you close Firefox by using the Settings button. Help With Firefox PLEASE
I am having issues with Firefox Not Responding!!! Is anyone able to help please. I have cleared the cache and done all of the things I have been told but to no avail. Does anyone know about the parentlock. I was told to delete it, but it tells me to do that I need to close Firefox, only when I close firefox the parentlock file is missing!!! Any ideas. It seems to work fine for a while and then it just stops responding??

Re: Firefox not responding, yet again....
Hi profitmaker,
Assuming this could be an extension issue, try starting Firefox in safe mode and disable all your extensions. Start > Programs > Firefox > Firefox Safe Mode. To disable, right click for option. Now open Firefox normally and enable your extensions 1 or 2 at a time to weed out any issues with incompatible extensions. It doesn't happen too often these days, but it does! Don't worry about the parentlock file for now, lets check extensions first. Last edited by keithy397 : 05-05-2008 at 11:49 PM. |
