Firefox keeps freezing...
I've been a long time user of Firefox, but just recently it has started to freeze up on some pages - mostly Java related pages - and require me to go into task manager, end process, and start it up again. If I just exit out, it gives me a notification that Firefox is already running when I start it again. For now I've switched to IE, though I detest the design and layout. At least it works consistently and won't freeze.
I don't believe that it's a problem with my particular installation, since I have 2 pcs running XP and Vista that both have the same problem, on the same sites - and IE doesn't have a problem with the sites. If there is a fix, it would be very helpful... For now, I'm stuck with the craptacular IE. For example, this site works perfectly with IE, but when I try to go to it in Firefox, I just get a blank white screen and nothing in firefox that has to do with browsing works. (Stop loading, search bar, history, favorites) Stuff like View>Toolbars reacts when I click, but no menu comes up either. Essentially frozen... Last edited by -=Rousseau=-; 02-16-2008 at 01:12 PM. |

Re: Firefox keeps freezing...
I've just viewed your link in Firefox and it works fine. The 6 java applets are hidden because I use the NoScript addon to block javascripts, but nothing unusual apart from that.
Have you tried creating a new Firefox profile or running in Firefox Safe Mode? (not Windows Safe Mode )Which version of java do you have installed? Have you tested it? http://www.javatester.org/version.html EDIT: When I set NoScript to allow java for 'northpark.edu', the screen stays white and crashes Firefox. I also noticed it prevents my mouse wheel from scrolling, so it might be a problem with the site/code. File/Exit and the 'X' Close button don't work now so I had to close Firefox using Task Manager. Did you create this webpage and the java applets?
