[SOLVED] IE works, but not Firefox

I'm on my school computer network (and will, for the rest of the semester), and while Internet Explorer 6 works perfectly, when I try Firefox (pre-installed on computer), it says that Firefox cannot connect to the specified page. I don't think it's a firewall, unless Windows Firewall doesn't display a warning when it blocks something. I also asked the teacher/tech guy, and he didn't know any reason either. Any possible fixes for this? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: IE works, but not Firefox

Does the school computer run through a proxy server to get to the internet?

If you are not sure you can check and see how IE is set up.
Open IE > click Tools > Internet Options > Click the Connections tab > click the Lan Settings button

Is it checked for using a proxy server? If so copy down the proxy servers address and port number.

Then open FireFox and click Tools > Options... > Advanced > and chose the network tab. From there click the Settings button. Enter in the copied down info in the HTTP proxy section.

Let us know if this helps.

Our school needs the proxy unchecked so give both ways a try. :)
