Problem loading pages among other things.

I have been experiencing odd problems with my internet for the past 2 weeks or so. I have been unable to view certain websites at certain times. It appears to be random. Sometimes I can view the sites and most other times I can not.

Only today I have been able to view this site where the last 5 days I could not view this site among many others.

For things like youtube some of the page loads but it is without any graphics. Like all of the javascript is turned off or something and videos cannot be viewed because it says I do not have flash installed which in nonsense. Sometimes youtube loads correctly and I can view some videos like normal and the vast majority of videos are unviewable as they try to load forever.

The weird thing is that most of the sites I can not view while others load completely normally and the the next day it reverses. Sometimes over the course of hours. Different parts of what I can do over the internet become available to me and then do not while others open up again.

This does not only affect my computer. My xbox 360 uses the same connection to my dsl and I am unable to go on Xbox live sometimes. When I tested the connection everything was fine except the xbox live connection test.

I thought that perhaps I might have spyware which was causing this. So I downloaded spyware search and destroy and it found 2 or 3 things and removed them but it did not help.

I am posting this here but I do not how long I will be able to view this site until it goes down again for me with a page could not be found screen to greet me.

I am beginning to suspect it might be my dsl modem which is causing this odd phenomenon.

I do have a hijackthis log file if that will help.

Re: Problem loading pages among other things.

It is your ISP. You should complain and then switch.

Re: Problem loading pages among other things.

hey, I have that same problem too. My service provider is Shaw (prehaps you've never heard of it? but that's not important). downloads work fine, though, but sometimes speeds are a bit erratic. Same problem with IE6. I've posted it on the networking subforum, but since no one responded, maybe it's in the wrong section? so i'm posting it here.

Re: Problem loading pages among other things.

If anyone wants to know or cares about this then I found out what the problem was a while ago. Apperantly if you use Firefox for a while the same files for cookies, history, whatever builds up in your IE as well. Once it gets filled up will will mess up your browser. If you delete and clean out all the files in IE it will fix the problem. I have had the problem twice now and this action solves the problem. Even if you clean out files in Firefox it will not do the same for IE so you have to do it in IE.

Re: Problem loading pages among other things.

azure, this was from half a year ago. if the thread is that old, the person had probably solved it already. no need to revive it from the depths.

wmorri, thanks, but the same goes for you too.
