Firefox Windows Live Bookmarks

Hello,

All of a sudden, every one of my bookmarks disappeared. I have no idea why - I didn't make any changes. I did download a couple of updates for Security issues with XP tough. Is there any way to get them back, or can you tell me how it happened so maybe it won't happen again?

for some reason that is a problem with firefox browser, I would suggest getting FEBE firefox addon so you can restore your bookmarks if it happens again. You can also use firemarks bookmark sync to store your bookmarks online and sync your bookmarks between computers if you use more than one. They both come in handy, especially when firefox loses things.

In the meantime see this, maybe something there will help.

By default FireFox saves 5 daily backups of your bookmarks

Navigate to this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\ Windows login/user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ randon letters.default\bookmarkbackups

are there any bookmarks in this location or where they deleted also?

I found a folder of bookmarkbackups under Firefox. What do I do now? Thanks SO much for the help!

Hello Julie

open FireFox
click Bookmarks
click Organize BookMarks
click File
Import
select From File then click Next
navigate to the bookmark location you wish to import into FireFox - in your case C:\Documents and Settings\ Windows login/user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ random letters.default\bookmarkbackups
- the backup bookmark files have a date included in their name - I would chose the most recent one
select the file then click Open

Hey there -

Thanks a lot. I was able to import old bookmarks from Mozilla (we're running both). The problem was that if I had known immediately, I could have brought them in from the Firefox backups. Because I waited more than 5 days - the only bookmarks were new ones. Not a big deal - I'll live with my old Mozilla ones as long as they aren't all gone. Thanks so much to both of you!

It might be worth while for you check out this add-on for FireFox called FEBE

It is great for making backups - including bookmarks
