[SOLVED] Minimizint Thunderbird

Is there any way to make Thunderbird run in the background or in the system tray? It is becoming a nuisance with the multitasking I do...

Re: Minimizint Thunderbird

Try the ' Minimize To Tray' add-on for Thunderbird. Also works for Firefox.

To minimize any other program to the system tray, use TrayIt.

Re: Minimizint Thunderbird

Click the Install MinimizeToTray link at the bottom of the page, then halfway down where it says "Latest version for Firefox 1.0.7 and Thunderbird 1.0.7" right-click Install Now, select "Save Link As" to save the file to your computer without it automatically installing in Firefox.

Then open Thunderbird and go to Tools > Add-ons, click the Install button and locate the .xpi file you downloaded. Restart Thunderbird to complete.

You can change the options in Tools > Add-ons to make it minimize in the way you want. The options are "Always minimize to the tray instead of to the taskbar", "Minimize to the tray on close", and "Require a double-click to restore from the tray".

Re: Minimizint Thunderbird

It doesn't matter which folder you put the file in. My Documents, Temp, the Desktop, anywhere. Don't click the file to try and install it. Instead, open Thunderbird and go to Tools > Add-ons, click the Install button and locate the .xpi file you downloaded. It will then install automatically. Restart Thunderbird to complete.

Re: [SOLVED] Minimizint Thunderbird

The other link (TrayIt) will work for any program.

EDIT: Are you sure it won't work? I've got Thunderbird 2.0.9 and I've just tested it. Works ok on mine, click the miminize button and it goes to an icon in the systray, double-click the icon to restore.
