Slow (very s l o w) web loading
Hey
I primarily use Firefox browser but have been finding lately that some (not all) web pages are loading sooo slowly. In fact they don't really load at all- just a blank screen. When I press the refresh button the page content appears for a couple of seconds then disappears again as the page reloads. There are really only two sites where this is happening and they happen to be the two sites I visit most often. They didn't use to be slow but have got worse over time. Okay so I tried IE to see if things would be any better and way hey yes they were. Brilliant. However, in the last week (3 weeks later) the same problems have started to present themselves- again primarily on the same web sites. Frustrating as one of the sites has something I want to buy but I can't load the checkout page!! Nevermind. One of the web pages I have particular trouble with is a news site and yet other news sites load perfectly fine (as did this one for a number of months...) I figure that as not all web pages are slow to load it isn't a networking problem??? I tried checking for Malware but not really sure if I did what i needed to. Achem. I must also add that I'm a self-professed computer simpleton so any advice you have will need to be in pretty plain English for dummies. Yep that's about it I think. Appreciate your time in advance. Cheers |

Re: Slow (very s l o w) web loading
One is a news website www.stuff.co.nz, and the other is www.torpedo7.co.nz
As far as I'm aware neither site has changed over the time I have been visiting them. Could it be somothing to do with the browser? Like I say using Firefox was fine for a while then really started to slow down on these sites- like wouldn't load pages at all. Then when I switched to IE it was heaps better... for a while then the same problems started to happen?? |

Re: Slow (very s l o w) web loading
Both those sites took about 3-5 seconds to initially load for me (i.e. they were a blank for 3 sec). Really, it's hard for me to tell what you subjectively think is "slow." If this is a problem with both your browsers, it seems that it is an overall computer problem, and since it's just those two sites, not a networking problem. You could try to delete your cache (temporary internet files) and cookies, and see if that helps.
