[SOLVED] Thunderbird Setup

Hey everyone,
I downloaded Thunderbird a while back and have not been able to figure out how to set it up. What I don't get is how to determine my incoming and outgoing servers and the other things like that. If someone could post a guide as to how to find this information, I think it would be invaluable to the novices of setting up e-mail.

Wow... Can nobody help? or is this just a little used forum since Firefox is so much better than internet explorer

thanks guys but i figured it out. i have more than one account though and i cant get it to download my gmail account messages. my other account is aol.

Must use port 995 for gmail. Other stuff like server is as per normal. Google has a help section to show you how to set this up.

Does anyone know how to setup hotmail with this? I can not figure it out and I barely know much about computers.

There is an add on for Hotmail. I think it was called webmail or something like that. Though the add on was very patchy (not the add ons fault - see my comments below) - one day it would work and the next day it wouldn't. The add on allowed you to receive and send hotmail emails just like pop3. Having said the above, I believe Microsoft was changing things all the time because there was constant updates to the add on and then after a time it stopped working until an update came through. I don't understand all the technical why's and why nots (and don't want to know) but in the end I decided hotmail is a pain in the rear end so I no longer use it. Bad luck for Microsoft...........they should change their policies. Probably got something to do with Windows "live".

Your ISP has to give you the incoming and outgoing servers.

Who do you use? I have them for comcast and verizon if you need them.
