[SOLVED] Videos won't load fully
Hello. First time poster here!
So, I'm using the latest version of Firefox on Win XP. These are not new developments, I've been using them for quite a while. Recently, I switch my ISP to clearwire, and that's when this problem started. (not sure if it's related or not) Whenever I try to load any videos (youtube, ebaumsworld, etc) they begin loading and then stop abruptly about 1/3 of the way in. When I refresh the page and try to re-load the video, it doesn't even start over. It just hangs and does nothing until I navigate away from the page and come back, wherein it repeats the above problem. I've tried disabling any firewalls. All download managers are uninstalled. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall adobe flash but that doesn't work either. In fact, on some pages, i'm still told I don't have the latest player even though I've uninstalled/reinstalled the damn thing about ten times. When I set up my Clearwire internet, I had to troubleshoot with a tech support person over the phone and we changed some stuff in my network connection settings. They didn't seem too important, so I took little notice of exactly what we were doing, but we got the internet to work just fine....except for this stupid video thing. Any help? ![]() Thanks |

Re: Videos won't load fully
Any ideas at least?
Some further info: I am now using downthemall, which worked great the first time I used it but has started not working at all now. Something I didn't mention above was that I also can't download any file to my hard drive. (this was before and after getting "downthemall") It will do that same "download partially, stop, restart, no download" thing that the youtube videos do. My roommate is also having the problem, so I'm thinking more and more that it may be clearwire. Maybe my modem is blocking something? Or my router? I don't know, but it would be great if someone else did! Thanks Zac

Re: Videos won't load fully
Well, I ended up figuring it out. If anyone reads this and has the same problem, all I had to do was disable the firewall on my router. If you're having this problem, disconnect the router and try using the internet with the modem only. If the problem goes away, then you probably just needs to disable the router firewall.

Re: Videos won't load fully
I couldn't figure out how to do it myself. Most routers have a webpage (accessible via an IP address) that you configure them from, but also most routers don't come with instructions on how to access it! Call the support line for your router company (whatever brand it is, mine was Belkin) and they should be able to tell you how to get to the settings. It only took about 3 minutes on the phone to fix mine.
Hope that helps! Zac
