This has happened to me 3 times now- I was browsing (FF) and a gray box pops up and says "Authentication Required" and then "Enter you username and password" and it had the address www.chosky.com.ar. I wasn't logging into anything and I have never heard of this site so does this mean I have a virus that my Norton 2007 AV isn't picking up? I did a full scan twice, plus ccleaner, lavasoft adaware, spybot search and destroy and windows defender but all of them are clean results. I did a google search before coming here and everything that I see looks like it has to do with porn. Help?

Re: www.chosky.com.ar
Hello and welcome to TSF
![]() To me this looks like it might be an infection.... I would recommend that you go here; read and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, to here. (Just click on the coloured links.) Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. Good luck ![]() Please also remember DO NOT post your logs in this thread, please start a new thread here. (Just click on the coloured link.) and post the logs. Kind regards. |

Re: www.chosky.com.ar
OK- Im at step 4 and I am now getting this message:
Install the ActiveX control required to view the website The website will not display correctly on your computer without this control. To install it: 1. Right-click the Internet Explorer Information Bar. It's located just below the address bar. 2. In the right-click menu, click Install ActiveX Control. 3. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Install. Note: If the Information Bar doesn't appear, or if you've installed the control but still can't use the website, take these steps to solve the problem. Example: Internet Explorer Information Bar with right-click menu HOWEVER there is no link to click below the address bar to install the active x as instructed... What should I do? |

OK- I am at Step 5 now- running the Deckard's System Scanner and I keep getting an error about 5 bars in (during the "Backing up registry hive" part)
It says: dss.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I've tried 6 times and after rebooting and trying again, I am still getting the same error. Should I post a regular Hijackthis log with what I have now or is there a way to fix this error I get with the DDS? |

Re: www.chosky.com.ar
Yes post your Hijack this log here. (Just click on the coloured link.), and when you post your log, also mention that you were unable to scan with Deckard's System Scanner, and one of the the expert analyst will give you another tool, or tell you how to fix the error.
Good luck. |
