Server Not Found error constantly
I was having a problem with a trojan a couple of weeks back, which I reported in this forum here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/hijackthis-log-help/resolved-hjt-threads/167974-zapchast-trojan-infection-log-thread.html#post986568
The trojan has been all cleaned up and deleted, which is great - but around the same time I started having a problem with Firefox. I can only assume it was related or a bi-product of my original problem. When trying to view various webpages, I often get a message saying "Server not found". This happens more often than it doesn't - and I have found that by refreshing the page it sometimes connects (I usually have to refresh the page about 6 times before it connects).. I have tried uninstalling firefox, and reinstalling it - but problem still occurs.. How can I test what is causing this problem.. and how do I fix it.. thaks in advance |

Re: Server Not Found error constantly
Firefox "Speed Tweak"
Something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up: 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now! I actually did the "30" to "100"!!! doesnt do it as much but blazing fast!!! Last edited by sethovahea; 10-31-2009 at 01:10 PM. |
