Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
just saw Teton Bob's instructions 2 a member to block 3rd party cookies in FX and followed his instructions, as per:
In Firefox go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies Click the small triangle next to cookies to expand that tab and put a check next to "for the originating website only". This will prevent third party cookies from being installed on your computer. But I see no "cookies" per se in privacy (C below) and so no triangle to expand. I do C show cookies which, when chosen....shows the cookies. I am sure I am missing something. Wut might that B????

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
Addenda;
Just found this truly fascinating page: http://www.worldprivacyforum.org/cookieoptout.html Now want to disable third party cookies even more; I C they R, can B.... even more insidious than I thought.....and I was CLUELESS re this legislated option to "opt out" on sites!!!! I am also heartened that people were moved to achieve this option for us via the courts, and they succeeded!

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
Sorry, Jill...those are somewhat outdated instructions for an earlier version. I really need to update that info.
Here's the options available:

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
OK I am newly confused. I got the add on but stikll do not that the interface Bopb pasted which I luv.
Does this explain why? Below from the developer's comments re the add on. Developer Comments The 'View Cookies CS' window has been split into it's own extension and will no longer appear in the cookiesafe extension. You can download the latest version of 'View Cookies CS' from forum.softwareblaze.com. If you choose to install both extensions a new menu item will be added to the cookiesafe context menu allowing you to open the view cookies cs window in the same manner as before. __________________________________________ I have the same view cookies window option as before, but stlll C no way to block third party cookies per se. I did have this in IE, as I recall. Am I having a cookie crisis?

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
What version of Firefox are you using, Jill? Help>About Mozilla Firefox
My image is taken from 2.0.0.5, accessed via Tools>options>Privacy Tab Can't really block them that way, but by having Firefox ask every time, you control it. Some people find that a PITA, though.

I have 2.0.0.5.....updated from 2.0.0.3. And I would B one of those humans who would shoot herself if I had to respond to individual cookie questions from any browser. When I had IE....I tried that for a day. Then I shot myself. OK no.....stopped it just short of that. ![]() Comodo questions I can deal with an respect fully......same re Trend Micro when it picks up changes as it should.....but a browser? No way. Wut I do not get, given U have same FX version as I.....is how come my inteface is not like yours? I got the add on....but nothing changed.

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
Jill, I'm not using the addon, that was Flatiron's suggestion. I do run a lot of addons, not that one, and the image is, as far as I know, stock FF.

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
O! OK, I will now find out why my FX is stuck. Very strange. Yes, I knew the add on was Flatiron's suggestion, but it did look promising.
I wonder if a chosen theme might impact this interface. I would think not. I will look into this! __________________________________ Plan: I still run IE 7 on my lappy. I will now get & ethernet the lappy and download a copy of FX. It feels neglected anyhow. I will report back.

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
Hello,
I am writing from the Alien(ware Sentia 223), my lappy. As per the above, given it was an FX virgin, I just downloaded FX, installed it, let it copy stuff from IE as it asks....also made it my default browser. U will C from the below screenie....I have the same interface via tools>options>privacy as I do on my desktop. Why? We do not know, OK? It's just the way it is. Maybe Bob's interface does not feel welcom in any of my systems! Maybe it just doesn't wanna B in NYC. Who does right now?I only did this 5 mins ago, have no themes, no add ons, no skins, no nuthing. Maybe...this is a riddle; maybe this is a test; maybe I and my computers R on a watch list. ![]()

Re: Blocking 3rd Party Cookies?
Hello,
I am back online via my desktop (AVG scan running on lappy). I uninstalled FX from lappy, cleaned the registry...IE7 OK for it, that was only an experiment after all. I also think nobody should waste more time on this, OK? I think OK, it is strange, but no biggie; the interface FX likes for my computers---wonder how it knows my IP addresses, and that they R mine ---is fine. But same deal with this system running XP Pro and the lappy running XP Home. At least it's consistent. ![]() I don't think I have major cookie issues or more clandestine (blech) activity than I should. I think, to get the more cookie configurable interface in privacy in FX....U need 2 be a mod.
