[SOLVED] Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with yahoo and hotmail email services using Mozilla Firefox browser. I can access www.yahoo.com, but not their mail.yahoo.com, because i receive the messege that cookies should be enabled. The same for hotmail.com. I enter Tools/Options/Privacy and i see the Accept cookies from sites is selected! I enter Exceptions and i see that yahoo and hotmail are among the allowd sites to set cookies. I do not know what's happening. When i try to enter mail.yahoo.com the page keeps blinking. With hotmail, i receive the following message: Cookies must be allowed Your browser is currently set to block cookies. Your browser must allow cookies before you can use Windows Live ID. Cookies are small text files stored on your computer that tell Windows Live ID sites and services when you're signed in. To learn how to allow cookies, see online help in your web browser. Can you help me? Thank you! Last edited by blackice; 06-29-2007 at 05:39 PM. |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Can you access your mail through IE?
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Privacy tab > Advanced button, and check the settings for 'override automatic cookie handling'. Also, check your firewall and other security software to see if they have any options for cookies.

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
I can acces only yahoo mail, not the hotmail from IE. I checked what you advised me, but no change! My firewall and anti-virus seem to behave ok and nothing is stopping cookies...I haven't change anything in their configuration... Is anything else that you think i can do?
Thank you! |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
-Start Windows SP2 Firewall through the Control panel.
-Switch your personal firewall off - stop it's service in Start>Run>type: services.msc aswell. -Keep all browsers closed. After you've done the above, open a browser, any. Try accessing YahooMail again. |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Which addons have you got installed?
Open Fx Safe Mode through the Start menu entry and then check how it responds. Check you have HTTP SSL set to Manual in Start>Run>type: services.msc hit Enter. |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Hey Kalim,
Thank you for helping! I started FF in safe Mode and there was no change. HTTP SSL service is set to manual... I checked very carefully all the add-ons and the only add-on that can cause this problem is: KeyScrambler Personal 1.2.1. I am not sure for this, but i read some reviews and it seems that this add-on is causing different problems to other people as well. I removed this add-on, but there is no change! I removed FF, deleted the registry entries (used TuneUp Utilities), removed the FF folder from Program Files, removed Mozilla folder from: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data and finally i did a fresh install of FF, but the situation is the same. I tried with IE and Opera! I have the same results with IE, but not with Opera which works fine, both yahoo mail and hotmail open without problems! |

Once you deleted Fx installation files and it's profile, there is nothing else that can cause this error with it solely, but that it's very deep, a bug or even an OS corruption. I'll need to liaise with a Mozilla friend before I can advise further. Won't be long.

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Hey Kalim,
For no any particular reason I removed and re-installed Firefox! I didn't installed any backup-ed add-on and it is working fine! (before i was installing all the ad-ons and after that starting to use FF - that's a mistake). I can use yahoo mail with firefox! What is strange is that I can use it under IE as well. I believe that one of the ad-ons was causing this problem! I will start installing and testing all my favorite ad-ons and as soon as i find out the "bad"one i will let everybody know. No.1 suspect is KeyScrambler. Thanks a lot for your help! Last edited by blackice; 07-07-2007 at 02:14 PM. |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Well, I was just about to ask you to rehearse through everything you did before submitting a bug notification report to Mozilla, so it's good you let me know.
I didn't know you were installing the addons back again. My point of advising to reinstall basics was to not have any addons on at all (that's how one eliminates potential problems down). But I'm glad you have it working fine. Surely it was the addon. ![]() I'll let the guys at Fx know and mark it as a problematic extension - just need to know which version of it you were installing? You're very welcome blackice. |

Re: Yahoo cookies rejected on Firefox
Well, I installed all my ad-ons, but KeyScrambler 1.2.1. I had it installed when my problems appeared...so i removed it, but problems were still there. At the first sight i thought the problem wasn't this ad-on, but now my FF is running nice without it.. Maybe I am wrong, but read some more reviews here please:

Have you emailed the developer with what he lists to report the bug and send you a new beta build?
I would encourage you to, as free software developers are just ordinary people and need as much help as possible to be able to fix the errors. One major aspect of that is to submit them any useful feedback, errors and bugs with their software. They will then try to fix that and notify others about it aswell. With such software, people don't count - you do and your experience. As there are many problems unknown yet and the more people that test them, the more we find out. If you leave KeyScrambler installed and have no other addon/theme installed, everything default in Fx and still get this error, yet you don't get it without KeyScrambler, then it's obviously that software at fault. |
