Bookmark glitch

Hello, Collective Wisdom - I run Mac OSX 10.4.9, and recently upgraded to Firefox 2.0.0.4. Now I'm getting this strange glitch when I try to set a bookmark. I go up to the menu bar and hit Bookmark, and then select Bookmark This Page. Sometimes it works. More often, I try to select Bookmark This Page, and get a spinning "rainbow" wheel to indicate its working on something. I have to Esc out of that. Then, without changing anything at all, I can go back to Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page and it acts normal! Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? If I browse to another page, the same thing happens all over again. It takes two tries (and some extended seconds of waiting to Esc from the first attempt) in order to set a bookmark. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks,
Marcia

Re: Bookmark glitch

If this problem just started, then take a look in your profile name folder, e.g., xxxxxxxx.default. There is a bookmarksbackup folder which contains a backup copy of the bookmarks.html file, for the last 5 days.

Close Firefox
Rename the existing bookmarks.html file to bad_bookmarks.html.
From the Bookmarks Backup folder, select a backup with a date prior to the start of your problem.
Copy that file to the xxxxxxxx.default folder

I am totally illiterate when it comes to a Mac, and hoping there is no difference in the file names...

Re: Bookmark glitch

This can be a theme issues BTW - you can try the above as RamonaJ suggested due to that also being a good possibilty, but if you're not running the default Firefox extensions and themes, then try opening Fx in Fx Safe Mode and see if you still get the problem that way.

The last I saw it, it was BlueShift theme incompatible with Fx 2.0.0.4 throwing this error, which can apply to other addons too.
