Firefox 2.0.0.4 (new) not loading ANY pages

I got the automatic update message yesterday, closed FF, and when I re-opened it it updated itself. Result: NO pages load. No errors, says "Done", and just plain blank. Error Console shows nothing. All pages load fine in IE. Nothing works, including Google.com. I renamed the old FF, re-installed a fresh copy downloaded from getfirefox.com, no help. I un-installed FF, then re-installed the fresh copy, still no help. Any ideas?

PS: I have tried FF's "Safe Mode", no help.

PPS: I downloaded Netscape 8.x and it works fine...

Create a new profile and try again.

To start the Profile Manager:
Close Firefox completely, Start-> Run-> type
firefox -p

Don't choose a profile folder, let the profile manager put the new profile in the default location!

Restoring your browsing data

Windows XP: Show Hidden Program or System Files

Locate your profile folder

Backing up your profile

Sorry, no luck. I made a new profile, and no change. But at least Netscape is still working (!)... Sigh...

Uninstall the current Firefox using Add/Remove
Delete the Program Folder located here:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
If you have installed plugins, then first, save that folder to another location

Use your Registry cleaner and remove all instances of Firefox.

Important! Reboot your PC

Install the downloaded full version of 2.0.0.4

Everything should be working, so let us know if the extra steps helped.

I uninstalled FF, deleted the folder, I cleaned out ALL references to Firefox in the registry, re-started the machine, installed the download - and no change! B-zarre. I thought I had something when I found a reference to something called Au_exe which was associated with FF in the registry (sounded fishy), and I deleted that too before the restart-and-reinstall, but as I said, no luck. At least Netscape is still running fine.
