What is Mozilla "registry" for?
I noticed that my "registry" within my Mozilla folder is taking up a lot of memory. I was just wondering what is contained in this registry? I always thought all of the email data is contained in the profiles files.
![]() Also if I want to transfer old emails off an old computer onto a new computer what files do I want to copy and paste? All of them or just my "profiles" folders? Keep in mind that I have existing emails on my new computer and I don't want to affect or corrupt them. I just want to be able to access the old and new emails, all of which were created with Mozilla based mail programs (Netscape and Mozilla Thunderbird). |

Re: What is Mozilla "registry" for?
Blade,
Exactly what file do you reference for "Registry", is it the registry.dat file? If so, that file is the pointer for your Netscape Profile, and why is uses an excessive amount of memory is a mystery to me. To move mail from the old to the new PC Rename the files on the old PC, e.g., OldInbox, OldDrafts, OldSent, etc. Copy those renamed files to the Mail Account folder on the new PC: Netscape C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profile_name\*.slt\Mail\pop.isp.net Thunderbird C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile_name\Mail\pop.isp.net

Re: What is Mozilla "registry" for?
Hi Blade_Jones
By a lot how much do you mean in figures? I have 60 extensions on one build of Fx and I never get more than 150MB of Fx memory usage, which I deem very good TBH. |
