Edit source of HTML file
Maybe I ate too much turkey yesterday and haven't had enough coffee today?
I just started using Firefox and when I View/Page Source I can't edit my HTML files. I used to be able to edit HTML with Internet Explorer. What am I doing wrong? Thanks and have a great holiday weekend.

Internet Explorer uses NotePad to view the source of a web page. Since NotePad is an application that can be written to, it can also be used to edit the file. Firefox just uses an internal viewer to look at the source. It cannot edit it. There are a couple of ways around that:
* Right-click on an HTML file stored on the hard disk and choose to open it in NotePad (or other editor). Edit the file and save it. * Install the 'ViewSourceWith' extension and it set up with a source editor your choice (NotePad or other). With this done, right-click on an open web page. Select 'View Source With' from the menu and open the source using the chosen the editor. Edit the source, save the changes and them refresh the page. Last edited by martt; 11-24-2006 at 01:45 PM. |
