No audio with flash swf's!

Hey there guys,

I've been browsing flash sits from a computer (in a lab) and there is no audio in any of the swfs that I have played!! On the other hand I was able to play mp3's and other kinds of media with no hassle at all.

I know for sure that these swf's must contain audio simply because they are stickdeath.com, Utube and pandora.com (which is something like a radio station).

Now I recon that the problem is actually from the browser (by the way, this is a Linux Ubuntu with Mozilla fire fox 1.5.0.7 browser and flash player 7). Astonishingly, there is no problems when playing the same swfs on other computers in the same lab (with the same hardware and software)!!

I haven't made any of these swfs but I've been working on flash for quite a while now, and I've never checked the audio of my swfs on different browsers.. (oops) , so is this a common thing for firefox borwsers!! or is there any kind of settings I have to make!! I've tryed the right click -> settings but that didn't work.

Anybody got any idea about whats going wrong or how can I fix this... :S
Many thanks in advance.

What happens if you try to play the Flash files in another browser on the same computer? This would need trying before you could be sure the problem is to do with Firefox.

I've never had this problem personally but it seems you're not alone. Type 'no sound playing swf' into a search engine. There is no definite cure but reinstalling Flash Player works for some people. Installing a codec pack does it for others (read here). It might be relevant to Linux as well but I really don't know much about the workings of this OS

Worth looking into the above maybe.
