pdf files won't open in browser or at all

Using FF 2.0 on Win XP machine.

I originally posted this on the Mozillazine forum and haven't had any luck yet.

I have been unable to view pdf files within the browser. I also tried removing Adobe reader via add/remove programs and then re-installing the latest version. It got halfway thru the installation and then an error window popped up that said a previous version could not be removed and the installation can't continue so now I'm stuck without a way to open pdf files. Any idea's? Is there a way or some kind of utility that will completely remove any traces of Adobe Reader so I won't have a problem re-installing it?

Please help.

I may resort to an alternative pdf reader I found at this link. I've downloaded it here at work and it seems to be pretty useful and much quicker than Adobe Reader.

Foxit Software
