Evil Help!!

I have an older iMac CRT, 350 MHz, 512 Mb RAM. I can connect to the Internet using Netscape, but can't using Internet Explorer or Safari. I'm using Earthlink as a provider and I've stumped their tech folks with the problem. Any help is appreciated - everyone is stumped!!!!!

Can you use mozilla as well? Anyway.. if nobody can help you then it's probably some permission error. Use Diskutillity.. if that doesn't help(after a restart) than just format it.

you you need to use any proxies or the like in connecting to the internet? it seems odd that one browser would work, but not others. there must be something that is configured wrong. what is it that the other browsers do? is there an error, and what does it say? also is it a dial-up, or always on connection. also try deleting this file to see if it helps safari.
1. <username>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

Hi! I just wanted to say that I found the problem and fixed it - also wanted to post the fix, just in case someone else has a similar problem. I was able to connect to the Internet with netscape, but not Internet Explorer or Safari. The Techs concentrated on IE and wanted the checks for proxies removed, I did so but IE still wouldn't connect. I checked Safari and removed the checks there - presto, Internet connection! Guess my German-Irish heritage came in handy, stubbornness, and a whole lot of pure dumb luck. Thanks!
Mike

Oh yeah, IE must be subservient to Safari as nothing more was done to IE. Once the checks were removed from Safari, IE also worked again.
