Installed Airport card, now won't boot
I installed an airport card in a Mac G4 Cube. Now the computer won't boot. When I take the card back out, the computer boots fine again. I can;t get it to boot with the card installed.
Things to know: Yes, I know the card works because I tried in another computer. The other computer that i tried it in was running OS X 10.2 The MAC is running OS X 10.4 with all the available updates installed. I did try a second card that I know works and I have the same problem. Please help if you can. |

Mac Method Wiz -- Manager

1st, is it an old airport card, not an extreme? had to ask even though i'm sure they are different slots. second, if two different cards will not let the cube boot, but they work fine in other macs, then i'd say that the cube's mobo is hosed, and w/ the card installed, its making some kind of connection that it doesn't like, but w/out the card, its open and doesn't affect it. has this cube have any kind of history of problems? just make sure you are putting the card in right, and make sure that the slot is clean and free of any dust/dirt/other substance. i had a 7500 that i upgraded the vram on, and then got funky lines in the screen. i knew the vram was good, but i finally figured out that if a sim was in a serten slot, i got the lines, so i looked w/a bright light and fount some metal fileing in it. i cleaned it out, added the vram, and never had a problem again. so check the slot, makeing sure there is no forein matter, and that the pins are all okay, not bent.
