i killed my mac i think... can you help pleeease?!?!
Im running a powerbook G4 15 inch, I had an external hard drive attatched via firewire and I was backing up my music files onto it. 73% through the process my system had a total lockup and I decided to rebot. I rebooted and disconnected the external drive. When it restarted i firt got a gray screen with a small finder logo and a question mark alternating back and forth with a file.
I presed CTRL>Z and found myself at a command prompt. I ptypes in MAC-BOOT like it said and it reset the prompt and told me ALLOC-RAM not enough space. And my telephone support ran out two weeks ago. *** I am pissed.... what to do? what to do? |

sounds like you ran out of space somewhere. it could be that during the copy, a temp file ate up all the extra space on the hd, hence the freeze, and now it won't boot, because it can't create a vm page file. if you still have the cd's that came w/it, boot from the cd, and see how much space is left on the hd. to boot from the cd, turn it on, put the cd in, reboot and then hold down the 'c' key until it boots.
