in the finder, goto menu "Go>Home". now open the folder "Library" then open "Preferences". look for the files named "com.apple.help.plist" and "com.apple.helpviewer.plist" move them to the trash, and empty the trash. now click on the help menu and run mac help. is it running now?

It doesnīt work

I did what you told me but it didnīt work. The application opened and immediately quited. After that, I checked the preferences folder and the files that I had put on the trash were again created. Do you know some other thing I can try for solving the problem?
Anyway, thanks a lot for answering.

Try repairing permissions with Disk Utility. Incorrect permissions can cause a wide range of problems.

ok, please post the error log for help. try to launch help, and let it crash. now goto applications->utilities->console, and open it. click on the logs icon. now select "console.log", and towards the bottom you should see a couple of lines that say help viewer. copy those lines and post them here. now click the little triangle next to "/Library/Logs", then "CrashReporter". select "crashdump.crash.log" and copy all the text and post it. this may say what its doing that the os doen't like.
