MAC 10 and FTP HELP!!!!
HELP! I'm a network admin, faced with the challenge of getting a Mac in one of my branches to FTP Externally. Right now the user can only FTP as far as an internal server in home office. What do I need to do to get her past my firewall which is her web proxy to allow external FTP usage???

not knowing a whole lot about this kind of thing, but don't you need to configure the firewall to allow ftp from that ip address, or to open ports for the ftp program. if the firewall has been configured, is the ftp app configured to use the right ports?

Mac Osx & Ftp
The firewall is a Linux Box running a flavour of clark connect. There is no setting for FTP Proxy, just FTP Server. I have tried forwarding the ports to the Mac, unsuccessfully.
Also, what is good free FTP client software for the Mac? On PC, they used Ipswitch WS FTPPro. |

Can you successfully ftp to an external server from another computer? If not, then you probably have to open a port on the Linux box.
There is a ftp app with Mac OS X. In the terminal you can use 'ftp address'. I haven't used it on Mac OS X, but it should be very similar to the ftp program on Linux. |
