Starting problem plz help

I have an Mac os8 and when I turn on the computer a disk appears with a question mark in the middle, I don't know what to do this never happened before, plz help me.

it means that the mac can't find a volume with a system/os on it to boot from. what mac do you have? also, can you hear the hd spin up at all?

yeah I can hear it spin.Also it was working just about 2months ago, what should I do, you know? thnx for the reply.

i still need to know what mac you have, so that i can have an idea of where to go. does it have a cd drive, or 1.44m floppy drive? do you have accuss to another mac? and if so, what kind is it? i think that something happened to your os and that you may need to repair or reinstall.

I have a power pc Mac os8 and yea I have a floppy and a cd drive.no i don't hav another mac.

what powerpc model? there were a whole lot. i'm sorry, but i do need detailed stats, ram, hd size and any perif's you have.
