Software Update
Using OS 10.4.2 when requesting Software Update, either through Apple menu or About Apple the application begins to run and then crashes. The crash report states that Thread 3 crashed. noted as PID: 3649, Thread 3, Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0X0001), Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0X0002) AT 0X00000006
Who knows what the problem is and how do I fix this so I can update my system? |

the crash report you're posting is incomplete, wa can't understand what it's wrong from that... post it all... btw, download the 10.4.3 combo update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...1043combo.html
and after the installation repair your disk permissions..

you don't need to reapir disk permissions after an os install/update because that's that last thing the install.app does before quiting, part of the optimising system step.
