buying a used laptop w/out program disks: good idea or bad?

Hi,

I really need a good laptop with final cut and I see some pretty good deals out there (macbooks, macbook pros) that come with FCP as well as CS3 or 4 but they never seem to include the program disks.

A couple questions:

Does this means that as long as I don't have to do a re-install of the OS I should be able to use the programs without any problems? Or will I run into warranty problems with the software?

Also, would you buy a mac laptop that didn't come with the OS disks? Some do and some don't and I'm wondering how important they are.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance, Gabe

Buying a computer without at least OS restore disks is always a bad idea. And to be 100% legal when buying a computer, you should have the disks and all paper work for the software on that computer. As far as I'm concerned, buying a computer without the disks is like walking a tightrope without a net.
