Re: should i get mac

I'm a Mac.. lol

I have a MacBook Pro. I still have a quad core AMD windows machine as well. I don't use it very much anymore. I never thought I'd like a mac so much.

I'm finding I can do about everything on my mac I used to do on my PC.
It's very stable. Powerful 64 bit OS. \
I run everything from Rosetta Stone, COD4, Adobe CS4, Hulu,Microsoft word, Maya, MSn,lol, Filezilla, ...
Umm.. I also really like the touch gestures on the touchpad on this macbook. Its really neat.
I learning Objective C and Cocoa on the mac right now.
My battery life is around 7 hours on this notebook, and I kind of laugh at people in lectures I go to that are scrambling for a wall plug in. That used to be me.

Cost.. ummm..
You get what you pay for.
Tech support wait on my one call was about 5 seconds.
Craftsmanship is Great.
resale value is good
Specs are great.

I don't think i'll ever use a PC as my main notebook ever again.
Windows just isn't all that.

Re: should i get mac

I am a big Mac guy, even think myself a power user. But I also know almost as much about Windows too. I wish I knew this much about linux. Anywho, when asked this question, I also ask, what are you going to do with the computer, as that is really the determining factor. If your main focus is gaming, build a Windows PC. If you are doing basic internet and paper writing, then get a cheap Dell, unless you really don't want Windows and have the money to spend, then get a Mac. If you want to do video and photo work and don't have any software yet, get a Mac.
The Mac is really a package deal. You buy it and it comes with media software as part of the deal. It runs much more stable then Windows because Apple makes the hardware and the software, so they know to what hardware to write the software. Windows has to write software that will run almost anything. They tend to have a longer life span. My 8 year old Mac, with some upgrades, is running Leopard. Can you see an 8 year old Windows PC running Vista? There are also a lot of free apps that I use on the Mac. Sure, some say that there are Windows versions of them too, but the Mac just gives a better over all experience IMHO.
