Upgrading Leopard to Snow Leopard

So, I got the Snow Leopard disk and popped it in my MacBook. The drive just reads the disk and then 20 seconds later it spits it out. I don't see any install window or anything.

Now, I don't have another Mac, so I can't do the whole "install from another Mac" thing. Any suggestions? I already went to the Apple store and got another disk, because I thought the disk had a problem.

Did you take the Mac in, and get it checked? Does it spit out other disks? What version of OS X does your Macbook have?

At what point does the disc eject? Does your mac read anything from the SL cd?
