Transitioning email from one address to another
Hi, folks. This may not be the right place to post this, but I didn't see a specific link for problems with email. Please let me know if I should post this elsewhere.
I have reached the end of the rope with AOL. The desktop for Mac AOL just bites. So I'd like to transition my email from AOL to either mac.com or gmail. I would be very interested in hearing any pros or cons about these mail systems. And I want to know if I can set AOL to automatically bounce all my mail to the one I eventually choose. I've had the same AOL address for, oh, about a century, and I would like old pals to be able to reach me at my new address for at least a year during the transition. Thanks for any help you can give me. --Ed in NYC |

Re: Transitioning email from one address to another
As for things relating to AOL mail, I've never used it, so I can't tell you if it forwards or not. As for your other question, mac.com cost money, gmail is free, and works great with the Mail.app that comes with OS X. In fact, I use gmail. I know that gmail can fetch email from other email accounts, but I don't know if AOL mail is one of them. It's a feature I don't use, so I've never looked into it.
