I got an external HDD from WD formatted as NTFS. I share files between my PC and Mac. I recently transferred some files from my PC to the external drive and wanted to put them on my Mac from my external drive but I get a permissions error, something like "you do not have sufficient permissions to complete this task". my question is how can I change the permissions on my external drive so i can transfer those files from my PC to Mac.

Re: transfering files from PC to Mac with External HDD
You shouldn't need to change permissions to copy from the drive, only make changes to, but you can't, as the Mac can not write to NTFS disks, only read. The only way you would get a permissions error trying to copy from the hard drive is if you are trying to copy the files to a place on the drive you do not have permission to do, like someone else's folder, or in system made folders. Do you get the error if you try copying to your documents folder?
