Enlightenment closes when it shouldn't (in OS X)
Ok, that's a bad summary because I suspect it's something in the .xinitrc file or something that's causing the problem.
The nuts and bolts: I use X11 frequently on my Macintosh to do my job. X11 seems to be running correctly - all of the programs that I *need* run the way that they're supposed to. I'm currently running OS X 10.5.6 with all of the current patches. That being said, I've been experimenting with alternate WMs (Enlightenment, E17 to be specific), but I've recently run into a problem. When I used to run E16 (last week) I could launch a linux app (or X11 by itself), it would start E16, and E16 would run until I shut it down. With E17, I have to launch the Window Manager before any of my Linux apps will run (if I run an app without X11 running, it'll launch X11, but it won't run my app without clicking it again). Not only that, but when I exit out of ANY Linux application (regardless of what was running first or how many different apps are running) it closes the Window Manager and all other Linux Applications that happen to be running. Does anyone know what settings I'm screwing up (or can anyone give me some suggestions :) ) that are preventing Enlightenment from just *running* without closing X11? The reason this is an issue (and it's not a huge one), is that when I try to get into some of the E17 settings (not all of them) that closes Enlightenment as well - I suspect that the two problems stem from the same place. My old .xinitrc file Code:
#!/bin/sh exec quartz-wm --only-proxy & exec /sw/bin/enlightenment Code:
#!/bin/sh quartz-wm Code:
#!/bin/sh quartz-wm --only-proxy & exec /opt/local/bin/enlightenment_start Thanks! James |

Re: Enlightenment closes when it shouldn't (in OS X)
Yes - I just got it installed (it required 10.5.7 instead of 10.5.6 and I couldn't find the upgrade yesterday). I am having some other issues which I think are probably caused by my dinking around with it yesterday. I'm still open for suggestions :)

Re: Enlightenment closes when it shouldn't (in OS X)
Update: Well, it looks like this is going to be a nonissue - I've found another job so will have to return this laptop to my current employer. Thanks for everyone who tried to help!
