I'm running a 1.83GHz Intel iMac with 1GB of RAM and Mac OS 10.4.11.
I've recently been trying to install a copy of Parallels Desktop on my mac with a copy of Windows 2000 Pro. My question is probably a rather obvious one but I can't say that I mind being rather slow. When booting from the Windows operating system disk in order to install it comes to the matter of the setup and shows the following: "Setup has determined that your computer's startup hard disk is new or has been erased, or that your computer is running an operating system that is incompatible with Windows 2000. If the hard disk is new or has been erased, or if you want to discard its current contents, you can choose to continue Setup. If your computer is running an operating system that is incompatible with Windows 2000, continuing Setup may damage or destroy the existing operating system." I'm then given the option either to continue or to quit. Erring on the side of caution, I decided to configure the virtual machine before continuing in order to see if it's hard drive was set as my own, or if a disk image had been created for me by default. The hard disk was set as a .hdd file in the virtual machine's settings that had been installed, and labeled as "Expanding disk, 32.0 GB". I checked the file, but it has no size. Am I fine continuing with the installation or should I go about creating my own disk image and, if so, what file format should I be using? Thanks for reading my question, even if it is probably poorly put forward and obvious. :) |

Re: Parallels Question Regarding Installation
You will be safe continuing the install. You expanding disk will have no size until you start installing Windows. The program will change the size of the hard drive file to meet the needs of your virtual machine.
