wireless connection

We have a new i-book that my daughter can connect at home with the ethernet wire connection but when she tries to connect through Airport it shows the router but asks for a password. The system is not password protected and all our pc laptops have no problem connecting as do our i-phones.She has no problem connecting wirelessly at school so her air-port card is not the problem and we have the router set to connect to both b&g systems.Any ideas?

Re: wireless connection

Are you sure that it is trying to connect to the correct network?

Re: wireless connection

Did you try to just press 'return' at the password prompt? Whenever i need to do a network diagnostic and I am prompted for the password, I press 'return" (because i don't use a password).

Re: wireless connection

Yes the correct address does come up and we have tried just hitting return for no password needed but can not connect. Apple says to call Verizon and Verizon says ask Apple

Re: wireless connection

So - when you open the Apple Wireless connection icon, the name of your router shows up?

See attached picture of the connection icon..l

Re: wireless connection

Could you please take a screenshot of the window asking for the password, or tell us what it says word for word, along with describing the box, like icons in it and layout?

Re: wireless connection

Yes it recognizes the router instantly and asks if we want to connect. Then it asks for password when clicking on that connection. I can send snapshot when she returns from school but right now she has it (Mac Book) with her, at college.
Thanks for your help
