cannot open a web site
Hello,
I have a MAC OS X Ver 10.4.1, Tiger, processor 2.16 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, Tiger, Firefox and Safari.I do not have a firewall, I allow pop ups. I have dowloaded Office 2008 for students. From that moment I cannot open the web site of Skype(www.skype.com): all the other hundred web sites I use every day work! Before installing Office 2008, I used Skype without problems. I would like to download Skype for free calls. Can you help me? Thanks Artp |

What happens when you try going to Skype? Also, how did you download Office? That is not something you can do, so it was a pirated copy, and could of had code in it to give you problems.

Hello,
I bought Office, it is not a pirate copy. When I try to open www,skype.com, nothing happens : the web site simply does not open. Ater a long time, this appears : "Safari (or Firefox) can’t open the page. Safari could not open the page “http://www.skype.com/” because the server is not responding. All the other web sites work. Well, that's the skype web site, and it does not work!
The message is : Network Timeout The server at www.skype.com is taking too long to respond. |

Open the app Network Utility in the Utilities folder and then click on the trace route tab and enter in www.skype.com and see what it does. You could also try it with the ping too.

Hello,
it's Art again, the problem is always Skype web site not opening. I have entered www.skype.com in trace route and a log list of numbers appears, nothing happens.My server told me there are no problems on his side, thatnthe problem is some software I have installed.. The only new thing in my computer is Office 2008, Student Edition. So what do I do now? Thank you for the colaboration Art |
