modifying an iDVD file

Hello,
I volunteered to create a slideshow project in iDVD (version 7.0.2) using my husband's macintosh (OS X 10.5.6) in time for Christmas. I created a slideshow and then tried to move, delete and add photos to it. When I burn a DVD (after saving the project) sometimes these edits have been successful and sometimes they are not. I'm on the fourth iteration of this project. After the 3rd iteration, I again deleted some photos and moved others to different places. Then I saved the iDVD project. Then I saved it as a Disc Image which I then burned to a DVD using Disc Utility.

I'm pretty computer savvy but this program has me flummoxed. Any hints or pointers to the appropriate help files would be greatly appreciated. (frankly, I find the help files not very helpful and, yes, I'm going to get and read a manual before the next project)

Thanks
Patricia

Re: modifying an iDVD file

Do you run the iDVD project through the DVD preview before you burn it? Also, you need to let it sit for a while to reencode the new photos into the DVD format. There is an info window that you can bring up to see the progress of the encode, but it's been a while since I've used iDVD so I don't remember how to bring it up. But I'm betting that when you are saving as a disk image it's not getting everything encoded, so it looks like your edits are not there.

Re: modifying an iDVD file

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep these for the next time I do a project.

What I did finally (after an hour or so) was to delete all the old files leaving only the one that had (in DVD preview) all the changes I'd made. Perhaps it was the waiting (which allowed the encoding the take place), but it successfully burned a DVD that had all the edits in it.

Again, thanks.
