Hi People,

My nephew has just be given a new Macbook by my sister for Christmas. I have been asked to "set it up", and as I am a Windows MS user, I am lacking in places.
My question is: what free or paid anti-virus and spyware program is recommended for Macs?
I understand that they are the most stable machines to use and rarely fall over.
All I have done at this stage is dowload Java OpenOffice for general purpose use.

Don't need to worry about Anti-Virus or Spyware. I don't use any on mine. The best thing is safe surfing and email. Don't goto any shady sites, or click on things just because they pop up, and don't open email that you don't know who it is from. OpenOffice.org is great software, and it's what I use. For image editing I use The Gimp and GraphicConverter. For video playback, install the Divx and Flip4Mac Quicktime plugins and VLC. Other than that, I use the software that came with the Mac.

haha... I remember when I was 13.. If I had a computer I would have locked it up for sure
