setting a start up password 10.4

Hello, I have been able to find a lot of help for how to change your password on the Mac 10.4, but how do you set one up? It is to keep the kids from jumping on the computer when no one is home and getting on the bad websites. It's a Mac G 4 version 10.4. If I could just get a step by step process that would be so wonderful. Thanks a lot.

Youll find those settings in the Accounts preference pane in the System Preferences. Once you open it click on the user and make sure that a password is set. Then there will be a button named Logon Options, there you can the Mac to show the login screen which would require you to enter the password to get to the desktop.

if you want to block websites, go to your router preferences and there is probably a thing that lets you block off websites. it will apply to you too if you use the same router. they can also just plug in the computer directly into the modem so you can block the use of firefox or safari in accouns in preferences.
