Check It! Pick A Site & Get Free Access
Hi,
Has anyone run into an icon on the top right hand corner of the screen in Internet Explorer 6 I believe in an iBook? The icon says "Check It! Pick A Site & Get Free Access". Could this be a possible virus or spyware? Toolbar? A program used for downloading software, music, etc? I'm not fluent in Mac.

Re: Check It! Pick A Site & Get Free Access
Well, first off, it can't be as you say, because the last version of IE for the Mac was 5. If you could post a screen shot, then I could be of more help. But something like that does sound fishy. Some kind of toolbar, as there isn't any virus or spyware for the Mac that can do things like that.

Re: Check It! Pick A Site & Get Free Access
I don't have access to the iBook. It maybe IE 5 for the Mac now that I think of it. I suspect that it would be a toolbar. Any ideas on how to get rid of it so I can try it next time I see this person?

Most cases, as with all toolbars, if you control-click on it you should get a settings or remove toolbar option in the pulldown menu.
