Confused ibookg4 software loading problem help

hi i have a problem loading my software into my ibookg4, i get the first disk in then when i get the second disk in it gets to 8 minutes remaining then it says there were errors istalling the software... has anyone had this problem before
im not really good with apple computers if i take out the cd and restart the ibook it comes up with password and i dont have one is there any way to get past this point
any help is greatly appriciated

As for the error part, have you made sure that the CDs are not scratched or dirty? Those are usually the only reason that it would fail, unless the info on the CDs is bad, but that is very rare. As for the password, is it asking for one right when you start the iBook, or after it has done the welcome to Mac loading window?

Yeah the CD might be bad, but it would be good to know what CD you are using OR you might want to do a repair disk from the install disk on the hard drive which is also the fsck -fy command from single user mode.

And I'm not sure the forum is allowed to help too much with passwords. You would be better off calling apple about password issues.
