External HDD Issues

I have an iBook G3 and it only has a 20GB HDD. I want to use CCC to copy the current HDD onto an external HDD and then onto the new one. But for some reason both external drives i plugged in werent detected or didnt work. Is this a driver issue or sumthing? The drives in question were a western digital mybook 320GB and an A Power drive enclosure.

Re: External HDD Issues

Chances are the drives are not compatible with the Mac. It seems that there is a hardware requirement for USB hard drives anymore. Not knowing which of the many Mybooks it is, I can tell for sure, but most I know of require you to have 10.3 or better, which you do have, but also some of them will not work with Macs that do not have USB 2.0, which that iBook does not have. Also, did you install the software for it? As for the other one, I've never heard of them.
