Modem Issues
My internal modem on my PowerBook G4 12" has begun to fail. It would work every third or fourth time and now it keeps saying that it cannot detect a dial tone no matter what cord I use or what wall connection. Is this strictly a modem failure, or could it possibly be a hard drive or motherboard issue? Would it be worth purchasing a USB external modem, or could it have the same problem connecting, as the problem is not just modem related?
Thanks |

Re: Modem Issues
At this point, there is no knowing why it is doing this. If swapping the cord didn't help, then next thing is to try a different modem on the same Mac, if it fails, then try a fresh install of the OS. If it still fails, then the motherboard is bad. So, if you don't have access to another modem, then you will most likely need to buy one. If you happen to be near any Apple store, take it in, and they can try a modem right in the store.
