hey!
I'm in serious need of some help for my networking problems. Downstairs, we have two Windows XP PCs hard-wired to a Voyager 205 Router connected to our Broadband Modem. Then, we have a Linksys wireless router thing connected to the Voyager 205 that I use to connect my Macbook OSX Leopard to the wireless/home network. Now, the problem is that, recently, my internet connection has really slowed down, leading me to the belief that somebody is using our wireless network outside our house. I've tried going to http://192.168.1.1, but it just sends me to the Voyager 205 ADSL Configuration page. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to make our Wireless connection secure when I can't figure out a way to access the configuration for the Linksys router? Any and all help is appreciated! |

Re: Problems with wireless network security
That may be the problem, the router and the modem think they have the same address. Disconnect the modem from the router and type the address in again. If you don't get the router, then get the manual out and see what it should be. If you do get it, then you need to change the router settings to a different ip range so that it will not fight with the modem for information.

I'll try disconnected the modem first, though. I'm starting to think that all three - modem, router, and wireless - have the same IP address. But it's been working fine up until about three weeks ago is the weird thing! Hmm. |
