iSync and Palm devices

Hi,

I have two devices here: a Palm Z22 and a Palm Treo (700p). The Z22 is old and the Treo is brand new.

I started off by installing the Palm Hotsync manager and Palm Desktop, but I quickly found that these were not the greatest applications and I would much rather use iSync and Address Book/iCal. So... I got the Treo all hooked up with iSync. I had to enable an option on the Treo to allow other syncing software, then I had to enable Palm OS syncing in iSync, then I had to change some conduit setting thing in the Hotsync manager. Then, POP!, like magic, my Treo showed up in iSync.

Ok, great! Now all I have to do is get the Calendar/Contacts off the 22Z and into iCal/Address Book, then from there over to the Treo. Fine... so... I have to connect the 22Z to iSync. I plug it in with a USB (it doesn't have Bluetooth) ... nothing. I try to add a new device... nothing.

All the settings should be right now, how can I get iSync to recognize the 22Z?

Thank you!

Have you tried Missing Sync yet?

Re: iSync and Palm devices

Sorry about bringing back a kinda old topic here...

I decided to forget about the Z22 and just use iSync and the Treo... because I figured it would work. And it did do a great job with contacts. But nothing happened with the calendar. I have the iCal sync preferences set in iSync... what else could be going wrong?

I'd rather stick with iSync than spend the $40 for Missing Sync, but if there is no solution, I guess I will have to.

Thanks

Re: iSync and Palm devices

Is there anything in your Mac's iCal? Some syncs will goto the device, but not to the Mac.

Yes, there is a lot in my Mac's iCal. It isn't transferring either way.

Re: iSync and Palm devices

That leave me to ask if it is on Apple's list of supported devices. This is kinda of why The Missing Sync was written, because Apple's and Palm's support for interaction was really poor. Maybe you will have to export your calendar in an Outlook format and then add it to the Palm device that way.

Re: iSync and Palm devices

Ok.

How would I do that? Just File -> Export?

Re: iSync and Palm devices

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't have any such devices, so I have no personal experience.
